Abstract
A custom packaging center for custom selecting and custom packaging canned and/or container goods and a novel box for use with the custom packaging center.
Claims20
A custom packaging center for creating a customized package of a plurality of food items comprising a loading station, a packaging station and an identification arrangement, said loading station designed to receive said plurality of food items, said identification arrangement designed to identify each of the food items that were loaded into the loading station and to create an identification code that is representative of the identify of each of the food items that were loaded in the loading station, said packaging station designed to support a removable packaging and to position said removable packaging in a location to receive said plurality of food items, said removable packaging designed to receive said plurality of food items after said identification arrangement has identified each of the food items that were loaded into the loading station.
A method for creating a customized package of a plurality of food items comprising:
- a. providing a custom packaging center that includes a loading station, a packaging station and an identification arrangement, said loading station designed to receive said plurality of food items, said identification arrangement designed to identify each of the food items that were loaded into the loading station and to create an identification code that is representative of the identification of each of the food items that were loaded in the loading station, said packaging station designed to support a removable packaging and to position said removable packaging in a location to receive said plurality of food items, said removable packaging designed to receive said plurality of food items after said identification arrangement has identified each of the food items that were loaded into the loading station;
- b. loading said plurality of food items in said loading station;
- c. moving said plurality of food items to a processing position;
- d. identifying each of said food items in said processing position;
- e. loading each of said food items into said removable packaging after said food items have been identified;
- and,
- f. generating said identification code that is representative of said identification of each of said food items loaded into said removable packaging.
A packaging for use in a custom packaging center, said packaging formed of paper board, cardboard or combinations thereof, said packaging including a cavity and cavity opening, said cavity designed to receive a plurality of food items, said packaging including a primary flap that includes an adhesive strip to form the seal, said primary flap designed to overlie said cavity opening and be sealed by said adhesive strip to the body portion of said packaging when said primary flap is in a closed position, said primary flap in said closed positioned designed to prevent removal of food items in said cavity via said cavity opening, said packaging including a serrated flap portion designed to be openable so as to provide access to food items in said packaging without having to move said primary flap from said closed position.
