Abstract
A method for installing multiple fiber optic cables in coiled tubing in oil and gas operations.
Claims15
A method for installing multiple pressure transducers, DTS, DAS and/or other downhole sensor systems in coiled tubing, comprising:
- a. laying extended coiled tubing horizontal to the ground;
- b. extending a pull cable attached to a pull cable winch through the extended coiled tubing from the feeding end of the tubing to the receiving end;
- c. mounting each of the to be deployed pressure transducers to the end of a corresponding FIMT;
- d. positioning each of the multiple pressure transducers to a corresponding FIMT at the downhole end with each laid out in proper spacing for the final installation;
- e. positioning FIMT with preinstalled fibers for DTS and/or DAS sensing, or empty tubes enabling fibers to be pumped into the coil after deployment;
- f. connecting each of the FIMTs to the pull cable;
- g. using the pull cable winch to pull the pull cable and each of the FIMTs into the coiled tubing;
- h. wherein as each pressure housing enters the tubing the FIMT's and pull cables are positioned to fit into grooves in the pressure housing as they pass into the tubing.

A multiple FIMT puller assembly for installing multiple pressure transducers, DTS, DAS and/or other downhole sensor systems in coiled tubing, the puller assembly having a downhole end and an uphole end;
- comprising:
- a. a series of puller housings, one for each FIMT;
- with the puller housings aligned in a row by being mounted to two pulling braces, the pulling braces positioned on opposite sides of the puller housings;
- b. a fitting on each puller housing for retaining the end of the FIMT;
- c. a front puller attached to the downhole end of the puller braces;
- d. a swivel attached to the front puller.
