Distributed Live Multimedia Switching Mechanism and Network

A method for sharing multimedia content, comprising:

• receiving an entry for a map location from an interface;
• returning a portion of a map for the selected map location, the portion identifying one or more events occurring at the map location;
• receiving a selection of an event of the one or more events, the selection acting as a request for multimedia content for the selected event;
• providing streams of multimedia content for the selected event captured by one or more capturing devices at the map location, in response to the selection of the event;
• and
• receiving selection of a stream from the streams of multimedia content, the selection causing the stream to be rendered at the receiving device,
• wherein the method operations are performed by a processor.

A non-transitory computer readable medium including program instructions for performing a method for sharing multimedia content, the computer readable medium including:

• program instructions for receiving an entry for a map location from an interface;
• program instructions for returning a portion of a map for the selected map location, the portion identifying one or more events occurring at the map location;
• program instructions for receiving a selection of an event of the one or more events, the selection acting as a request for multimedia content for the selected event;
• program instructions for providing streams of multimedia content for the selected event captured by one or more capturing devices at the map location, in response to the selection of the event;
• and
• program instructions for receiving selection of a stream from the streams of multimedia content, the selection causing the stream of multimedia content to be rendered at the receiving device.
