Abstract
Disclosed are various embodiments that facilitate client-side network page generation. A request for a network page is obtained at a server from a client. When the network page is to be generated by the client, network page generation code for generating the network page is sent to the client in response to the request and in place of the network page. The network page generation code includes code that obtains multiple data elements from the server. The network page generation code also includes code that generates a network page. The data elements are included within the network page.
Claims20
A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a program executable in at least one computing device, comprising:
- code that attempts to obtain a plurality of data elements from a server, the plurality of data elements being expressed in a data serialization format;
- code that renders a preliminary version of a network page when a connection to the server is interrupted before obtaining all of the plurality of data elements;
- and
- code that renders the network page in response to obtaining all of the plurality of data elements, the network page comprising a concatenation of at least some of the plurality of data elements with markup code.
A system, comprising:
- at least one computing device;
- and
- at least one application executed in the at least one computing device, the at least one application comprising:
- logic that, in response to receiving a request for a network page from a client, determines whether to locally generate the network page based at least in part on resource demands associated with local generation;
- logic that, in response to determining that the network page will be locally generated, generates the network page and sends the network page to the client;
- and
- logic that, in response to determining that the network page will not be locally generated, sends network page generation code to the client in place of the network page.
A method, comprising:
- receiving, via at least one computing device, a request for a network page from a client;
- determining, via the at least one computing device, whether to locally generate the network page based at least in part on resource demands associated with local generation;
- locally generating, via the at least one computing device, the network page in response to determining that the network page will be locally generated;
- and
- sending, via the at least one computing device, a response to the request for the network page to the client, the response including the network page when the network page has been locally generated, the response including network page generation code when the network page has not been locally generated.
