Mosaic Implants, Kits and Methods for Correcting Bone Defects

A method for correcting a bone defect in a patient, comprising:

• (a) providing a mosaic implant comprising first and second implant sections coupled along a beam portion extending across a length of the implant, each of said first and second implant sections having
• a plurality of biocompatible mosaic plates, and
• a plurality of wires which interconnect the plates with one another;
• (b) deforming the mosaic implant to a shape corresponding to a desired shape for the patient's bone defect such that at least a portion of the mosaic implant conforms to a curved surface;
• (c) positioning the implant at the site of the bone defect in the patient;
• and
• (d) securing the implant in place;
• wherein the beam portion of the implant provides structural support which resists inward deformation of the curved portion of the implant.
