Abstract
Improved hemostatic agents take the form of granules or particles that can be used to stanch, seal, or stabilize a site of hemorrhage, including a noncompressible hemorrhage.
Claims20
A hemostatic chitosan material comprising at least one of granules or particles having a density between about 0.25 to 0.60 g/cm3 and a diameter of about 0.9 mm.
A hemostatic device comprising a mesh socklet and a chitosan material in the form of a granule or particle.
A hemostatic agent comprising at least one of a partially or fully deproteinized and partially or fully deacetylized chitosan or chitin crustacean shell material, and wherein the chitosan or chitin crustacean shell material is ground into granule or particle form is at least one of expanded and partially ruptured.
