Zirconium Containing Hydrosilylation Catalysts and Compositions Containing the Catalysts

A method comprising:

• (1) combining an Zr precursor and a ligand, thereby preparing a reaction product, where
• the Zr precursor has formula (i) Zr-A4, where each A is independently a monovalent hydrocarbon group, and
• the ligand is one of ligands (a)-(d), where
• Ligand (a) is a compound of general formula (iv)
• where Q20 is selected from N and P, each A27 is independently a monovalent organic group, subscript r is an integer from 0 to 4, A21 is selected from H and a monovalent organic group and a halogen atom, each A24 and each A25 are independently selected from a monovalent organic group and a halogen atom, subscript s is an integer from 0 to 3, A22 is selected from a monovalent organic group with the proviso that A22 is not trifluoromethyl;
• or
• Ligand (b) is a compound of general formula (v)
• where Q30 and Q31 are each independently selected from O and S, each A36 is independently a monovalent organic group, A33 and A34 are each independently selected from H, a halogen atom, and a monovalent organic group, and A35 and A36 are each independently selected from a halogen atom, and a monovalent organic group, and A37 is a divalent organic group;
• or
• Ligand (c) is a compound of general formula (ix)
• where Q60 is selected from O or S, subscript zz is an integer from 0 to 3, subscript yy is an integer from 0 to 4, A61 is selected from H, a halogen and a monovalent organic group, A64 and A63 are each independently selected from a halogen atom and a monovalent organic group, A60 is selected from H and a monovalent organic group, A62 is selected from a halogen;
• or
• Ligand (d) is a compound of general formula (vii)
• where Q40 and Q41 are each independently selected from N, O, S, and P, subscript f is an integer from 0 to maximum valence of Q40, subscript g is an integer from 0 to maximum valence of Q41, A40 and A49 are each independently a monovalent organic group, and A41, A42, A43, A44, A45, A46, A47, and A48 are each independently selected from H and a monovalent organic group.

A method comprising:

• (1) combining an Zr precursor and a ligand, thereby preparing a reaction product, where
• the Zr precursor has formula (i) Zr-A4, where each A is independently a monovalent heteroatom containing group, and
• the ligand is a compound of general formula (viii)
• where Q51 and Q52 are each independently selected from N, O, S, and P, subscript h is an integer from 1 to maximum valence of Q51, subscript i is an integer from 1 to maximum valence of Q52, A58 and A59 are each independently a monovalent organic group, and A51, A52, A53, A54, A55, A56, and A57 are each independently selected from H and a monovalent organic group.
