Abstract
There is provided a metalloporphyrin complex represented by general formula (1): wherein M is a metal; A1 to A4 are independently of each other a substituent represented by general formula (2): -D-E+X− (2) wherein D is a divalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; E+ is a quaternary ammonium group or quaternary phosphonium group having 3 to 60 carbon atoms; and X is a halogen atom. There is thus provided a metalloporphyrin complex which, when used as a carbon dioxide fixation catalyst, exhibits high catalytic activity, has a small environmental burden and can be easily synthesized.
Claims11
A metalloporphyrin complex represented by general formula (1):
- wherein M is metal;
- A1 to A4 are independently of each other a substituent represented by general formula (2):
- -D-E+X− (2)
- wherein D is a divalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
- E+ is a quaternary ammonium group or quaternary phosphonium group having 3 to 60 carbon atoms;
- and X is a halogen atom.
A process for manufacturing a cyclic carbonate, comprising, in the presence of a catalyst made of the metalloporphyrin complex represented by general formula (10):
- wherein M represents magnesium or zinc;
- and Ar represents an aromatic ring optionally having a substituent, and in the presence of a co-catalyst which is at least one selected from a quaternary ammonium monohalide, a quaternary phosphonium monohalide and a compound represented by general formula (11):
- wherein R8 and R9 are independently of each other a monovalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
- or R8 and R9 may be linked together to form a ring, reacting carbon dioxide with an epoxide represented by general formula (8):
- wherein R4 to R7 are independently of each other a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
- or R4 to R7 may be linked together to form a ring, to provide a cyclic carbonate represented by general formula (9):
- wherein R4 to R7 are as defined for general formula (8).

- wherein M is magnesium or zinc;
- R10 to R25 are independently of each other a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a halogen atom, and in the presence of a co-catalyst which is at least one selected from a quaternary ammonium monohalide, a quaternary phosphonium monohalide and a compound represented by general formula (11):
- wherein R8 and R9 are independently of each other a monovalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
- or R8 and R9 may be linked together to form a ring, reacting carbon dioxide with an epoxide represented by general formula (8):
- wherein R4 to R7 are independently of each other a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;
- or R4 to R7 may be linked together to form a ring, to provide a cyclic carbonate represented by general formula (9):
- wherein R4 to R7 are as defined for general formula (8).
