A method of inhibiting STAT3 activation, comprising contacting a cancer cell with a compound of the formula:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
- X1 is Br or Cl, and
- X5 and X6 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or cycloalkyl.
A method of treating a STAT3-mediated disease comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
- X1 is Br or Cl, and
- X5 and X6 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or cycloalkyl.
A method of inhibiting STATS activation comprising contacting a cancer cell with a compound of the formula:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
- X1 is Br or Cl, and
- X5 and X6 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or cycloalkyl.
A method of treating a STATS-mediated disease comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
- X2 is Br or Cl, and
- X5 and X6 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, or cycloalkyl.
