Abstract
A player may directly license wager gaming software from a game provider, such as a gaming manufacturer. The player may, for example, be able to directly license a software application and/or a game theme at a specified gaming manufacturer's website. The player may be required to be a member of the gaming manufacturer's player loyalty account in order to directly license such software. The gaming manufacturer may enable access to the game of chance at one or more regulated locations, such as participating casinos that use a server-based gaming system provided by the gaming manufacturer. The casino and/or the player may receive financial credits, rebates, etc., if the player uses the licensed gaming software at the casino.

A method of licensing game themes to players through a gaming system of a game provider, the gaming system including a processor and a memory, the method comprising:
- hosting, by the gaming system, a website featuring a library of game themes available for a player to license directly from the game provider, the game themes may be used with authorized wager gaming machines in a participating gaming establishment;
- receiving, by the gaming system, a selection of a selected game theme by the player;
- determining, by the gaming system, that the player is eligible to play a wager game according to the selected game theme based on player information;
- receiving, by the gaming system, a payment for the selection of the game theme;
- licensing, by the gaming system, the selected game theme to the player;
- and
- associating, by the gaming system, the selected game theme with a player account of the player.
A method of licensing game themes to players through a gaming system of a game provider, the gaming system including a processor and a memory, the method comprising:
- hosting, by the gaming system, a website featuring a library of game themes available for a player to license directly from the game provider, the game themes may be used with authorized wager gaming machines in a participating gaming establishment;
- receiving, by the gaming system, a selection of a selected game theme by the player;
- licensing, by the gaming system, the selected game theme to the player;
- associating, by the gaming system, the selected game theme with a player account of the player;
- receiving an indication from the participating gaming establishment that the player wishes to commence a gaming session of a wagering game in accordance to the selected game theme;
- verifying that the player is eligible to play any version of the wagering game at the participating gaming establishment;
- and
- authorizing the gaming establishment to provide game play of the wagering game according to the selected game theme to the player.
A method of licensing game themes to players through a gaming system of a game provider, the gaming system including a website server, a validation server, and a licensing server, the method comprising:
- hosting, by the website server, a website featuring a library of game themes available for a player to license directly from the game provider, the game themes may be used with authorized wager gaming machines in a participating gaming establishment;
- receiving, by the website server, a selection of a selected game theme by the player;
- determining, by the validation server, that the player is eligible to play a wager game according to the selected game theme based on player information;
- receiving, by the website server, a payment for the selection of the game theme;
- licensing, by licensing server, the selected game theme to the player;
- and
- associating, by the website server, the selected game theme with a player account of the player.
