- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
- R1 is H or C1-8 alkyl;
- R2 is H or C1-8 alkyl;
- R3 is halogen, C1-8alkoxy, or C1-8alkyl;
- R4 is H, halogen, C1-8alkoxy, or C1-8alkyl;
- R5 is H, halogen, or nitro;
- and
- n is 1 or 2,
- wherein the cancer is multiple myeloma.
A method of treating multiple myeloma characterized by a cell type selected from the group consisting of one or more OPM-2 cells, MM-IS cells, MM-1R cells, KMS-18 cells, S6B45 cells, MR20 cells, and/or ARD cells, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an erastin analog, wherein the erastin analog is a compound represented by structural formula (V):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
- R1 is H or C1-8 alkyl;
- R2 is H or C1-8 alkyl;
- R3 is halogen, C1-8alkoxy, or C1-8alkyl;
- R4 is H, halogen, C1-8alkoxy, or C1-8alkyl;
