Abstract
Low molecular weight polymers useful in aggregating mineral components in aqueous mineral slurries to release and separate individual components of the slurry, which may then be recovered from the slurry.

A polymer selected from the group consisting of water-soluble multivalent cation-containing acrylate copolymers wherein the polymer has an intrinsic viscosity of less than 5 dl/gm (measured in 1 M NaCl at 25 degrees C.).
