An as-prepared cathode for a secondary battery, the cathode comprising an alkaline source material comprising an alkali metal oxide, an alkali metal sulfide, an alkali metal salt, or a combination of any two or more thereof.
A secondary battery comprising:
- an as-prepared cathode comprising and an alkaline source material, the alkaline source material comprising an alkali metal oxide, an alkali metal sulfide, an alkali metal salt, or a combination of any two or more thereof;
- an anode comprising an anode active material;
- an electrolyte;
- and
- a separator.
