Abstract
A magnetic recording medium, that makes it possible to reduce head flying height, includes a nonmagnetic substrate and provided thereon, in the order recited; an underlayer; a magnetic layer; a protective layer comprised of carbon; and a lubricating layer composed of a lubricant mixture including a lubricant represented by Formula (I) below where m is an integer equal to or greater than 1; and a lubricant represented by Formula (II) below where p and q are integers equal to or greater than 0, provided that p=q=0 is excluded.
Claims4
A magnetic recording medium, comprising:
- an underlayer;
- a magnetic layer;
- a protective layer comprised of carbon;
- and
- a lubricating layer on a nonmagnetic substrate,
- wherein the lubricating layer is comprised of a lubricant mixture comprising a lubricant represented by Formula (I) below
- where m is an integer equal to or greater than 1;
- and
- a lubricant represented by Formula (II) below
- where p and q are integers equal to or greater than 0, provided that p=q=0 is excluded.
A method of manufacturing a magnetic recording medium, comprising:
- forming an underlayer on a non-magnetic substrate;
- laminating a magnetic layer on the underlayer;
- laminating a protective layer comprised of carbon on the magnetic layer;
- and
- forming a lubricating layer by laminating a lubricant mixture on the protective layer that is comprised of a lubricant represented by Formula (I) below
- where m is an integer equal to or greater than 1;
- and
- a lubricant represented by Formula (II) below
- where p and q are integers equal to or greater than 0, provided that p=q=0 is excluded.
