Abstract
This invention generally relates to cationic oil-in-water emulsions that can be used to deliver nucleic acid molecules, such as an RNA molecule. The emulsion particles comprise an oil core and a cationic lipid. The emulsion particles have an average diameter of about 80 nm to about 180 nm, and the emulsion have an N/P ratio of at least 1.1:1.
Claims31
An immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion comprising emulsion particles that contain an oil core and a cationic lipid, and a nucleic acid molecule that is complexed to the emulsion particles, and wherein the average diameter of the emulsion particles is from about 80 nm to about 180 nm and the N/P of the emulsion is at least 4:1;
- with the proviso that the nucleic acid molecule does not encode secreted alkaline phosphatase, and the further proviso that the nucleic acid molecule is not an RNA encoded by the plasmid A317, the sequence of which is shown in FIG. 7A of U.S. Patent Application No. 61/361,892.
