Abstract
Pattern information of a color filter array and algorithm information of color interpolation processing used in photography of input image data are obtained. Comparative image data is generated from the input image data using the pattern information and algorithm information. The comparative image data and input image data are compared to detect alteration of the input image data.

An image processing apparatus comprising:
- an obtaining unit configured to obtain pattern information of a color filter array and algorithm information of color interpolation processing used in photography of input image data;
- a generation unit configured to generate comparative image data from the input image data using the pattern information and the algorithm information;
- and
- a detection unit configured to compare the comparative image data with the input image data to detect alteration of the input image data.

- using a processor to perform the steps of:
- obtaining pattern information of a color filter array and algorithm information of color interpolation processing used in photography of input image data;
