Methods and apparatuses for opportunistic advertising beacon transmission on non-serving wireless channels

An apparatus, comprising:

• means for determining that a resource availability opportunity exists for supporting a user equipment (UE) at a wireless node;
• and
• means for tuning to a non-serving channel based on determining that the resource availability opportunity exists, wherein the non-serving channel is different from a serving channel of the wireless node;
• and
• means for transmitting an advertising beacon on the non-serving channel.

A computer-readable medium comprising machine-executable code for:

• determining that a resource availability opportunity exists for supporting a user equipment (UE) at a wireless node;
• and
• tuning to a non-serving channel based on determining that the resource availability opportunity exists, wherein the non-serving channel is different from a serving channel of the wireless node;
• and
• transmitting an advertising beacon on the non-serving channel.

An apparatus for advertising beacon transmission, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• determine that a resource availability opportunity exists for supporting a user equipment (UE) at a wireless node;
• and
• tune to a non-serving channel based on determining that the resource availability opportunity exists, wherein the non-serving channel is different from a serving channel of the wireless node;
• and
• transmit an advertising beacon on the non-serving channel.

An apparatus for advertising beacon transmission, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive an advertising beacon at a signal strength on a non-serving channel, wherein the non-serving channel is different from a serving channel;
• determine that the signal strength associated with the non-serving channel is greater than a signal strength associated with the serving channel by at least a threshold value;
• scan the non-serving channel.
