Abstract
A glare reduction system is disclosed including a display device configured for placement in a line of sight of an object. The display device includes a plurality of picture elements without a color filter. Each of the picture elements have a pair of spaced apart polarizing elements in substantially parallel orientation with respect to each other, and a liquid crystal element between the polarizing elements. An imaging source is provided to receive light from the object. The glare reduction system further includes a display driver to process the received light to generate a voltage signal, and selectively provide the voltage signal to one or more of the picture elements in order to regulate the opacity of the display device.
Claims19
A display device comprising:
- a plurality of picture elements without a color filter, each of the picture elements including:
- a pair of spaced apart polarizing elements;
- at least one liquid crystal element disposed between the polarizing elements;
- wherein the polarizing elements are in substantially parallel orientation with respect to each other.
- a display driver configured to selectively provide a voltage signal to one or more of the picture elements in order to regulate the opacity of the display device.
A glare reduction system, comprising:
- a display device configured for placement in a line of sight of an object, the display device having a plurality of picture elements without a color filter, each of the picture elements including:
- a pair of spaced apart polarizing elements,
- at least one liquid crystal element disposed between the polarizing elements, and
- wherein the polarizing elements are in substantially parallel orientation with respect to each other;
- an imaging source configured to receive light from the object;
- a display driver configured to process the received light to generate a voltage signal, and selectively provide the voltage signal to one or more of the picture elements in order to regulate the opacity of the display device.
A method of glare reduction in a display device having a plurality of picture elements, the method comprises:
- receiving light from an object to be displayed;
- processing the received light to generate a voltage signal;
- addressing the picture elements, without a color filter, to respond to the generated voltage signal;
- and
- displaying an end image of the object at the picture elements, by means of the light passed from a first polarizing element and a second polarizing element, in the display device, disposed in substantially parallel orientation with respect to each other.
