A method for making a soluble polymer precursor of a rigid molecule, comprising:
- providing the rigid molecule, wherein the rigid molecule comprises a dianhydride;
- reacting the dianhydride of the rigid molecule with a sodium alkoxide to form the soluble polymer precursor, wherein the soluble polymer precursor comprises a substituted diester diacid.
A soluble precursor, wherein the soluble precursor comprises a rigid molecule selected from the group consisting of 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTDA) and 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (NTDA), and a long chain alkyl ester.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- an insoluble and infusible polymer film, wherein the polymer film comprises a rigid material.
