Abstract
The present invention concerns a bushing assembly including a tip plate supported by reinforcing ribs. The reinforcement ribs have a planar portion having a shape inscribed in a triangle of vertices α1, α2, α3, wherein α1 is the smallest angle of the three vertices, and the side of the triangle opposed to the smallest vertex, α1, matches exactly one side of the planar portion. It also concerns a bushing assembly including a tip plate reinforced with the reinforcing ribs discussed supra, wherein the reinforcing ribs are coupled to the bushing assembly by three sides, adjacent two by two.
Claims20
A bushing assembly for the manufacture of glass fibres, comprising a bushing body in a shape of an open box and comprising:
- (a) a first pair of opposed side walls (1A, 1B) defining a longitudinal dimension of the bushing body;
- (b) a second pair of opposed end walls (1D, 1E) defining a transverse dimension of the bushing body and, together with the first pair of side walls, defining a perimeter of the bushing body;
- (c) a tip plate comprising a multitude of orifices for drawing glass fibres, said tip plate forming at least part of a bottom floor of the bushing body;
- (d) reinforcing ribs having a planar portion comprising at least four vertices (A, B, C, D) and at least four sides (AD), (DC), (CB), (BA), and having a shape inscribed in a triangle of vertices α1, α2, α3, wherein α1 is the smallest angle of the three vertices and is truncated thus forming a smallest side (CB), and the opposite wall side (AD) matches exactly the side of the triangle opposed to the smallest vertex, α1, said reinforcing ribs being coupled to a side wall (1A, 1B) by said wall side (AD) opposite to the smallest side (CB), and being coupled to a tip plate by a tip side (DC) thereof, positioned between said smallest side (CB) and said wall side (AD), such that they are distributed along, and extend transverse to the side walls (1A, 1B),
- wherein the reinforcing ribs are coupled to the bushing assembly by three sides thereof, adjacent two by two, namely by their wall side (AD), by their tip side (DC), and by their smallest side (CB).
