## Abstract

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include querying, by an application program executing on a first information handling system, a second information handling system remotely coupled to the first information handling system for data comprising identities of versions or patches of an operating system certified by a provider of the operating system. The method may also include receiving the data in response to the query. The method may further include updating a support matrix associated with the application program based on the identities of certified versions or patches, the support matrix setting forth identities of versions or patches of the operating system supported by the application program.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An information handling system comprising:
a processor;
an application program comprising one or more instructions embodied in computer-readable media communicatively coupled to the processor, the instructions for causing the processor to, when read and executed by the processor:
query a second information handling system remotely coupled to the information handling system for data comprising identities of versions or patches of an operating system certified by a provider of the operating system;
receive the data in response to the query; and
update a support matrix associated with the application program based on the identities of certified versions or patches, the support matrix setting forth identities of versions or patches of the operating system supported by the application program.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The information handling system of claim 1, wherein the operating system is a hypervisor.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The information handling system of claim 1, wherein the operating system is a guest operating system configured to execute on a hypervisor.

### Claim 4

A method comprising:
querying, by an application program executing on a first information handling system, a second information handling system remotely coupled to the first information handling system for data comprising identities of versions or patches of an operating system certified by a provider of the operating system;
receiving the data in response to the query; and
updating a support matrix associated with the application program based on the identities of certified versions or patches, the support matrix setting forth identities of versions or patches of the operating system supported by the application program.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein the operating system is a hypervisor.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein the operating system is a guest operating system configured to execute on a hypervisor.

### Claim 7

An information handling system comprising:
a processor;
an application program comprising one or more instructions embodied in computer-readable media communicatively coupled to the processor, the instructions for causing the processor to, when read and executed by the processor:
upon invocation of the application program, determine an identity of a version or patch of an operating system upon which the application program is executing;
determine if the identity of the version or patch is set forth in a support matrix associated with the application program, the support matrix setting forth identities of versions or patches of the operating system supported by the application program;
responsive to determining that the identity of the version or patch is set forth in the support matrix, continue supported execution of the application program on the operating system; and
responsive to determining that the identity of the version or patch is set forth in the support matrix, provide an indication that the operating system is not supported.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The information handling system of claim 7, wherein the operating system is a hypervisor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The information handling system of claim 7, wherein the operating system is a guest operating system configured to execute on a hypervisor.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The information handling system of claim 7, wherein the indication comprises termination of the application program.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The information handling system of claim 7, wherein the indication comprises communication of an error message associated with the application program.

### Claim 12

A method comprising:
upon invocation of an application program, determining an identity of a version or patch of an operating system upon which the application program is executing;
determining if the identity of the version or patch is set forth in a support matrix associated with the application program, the support matrix setting forth identities of versions or patches of the operating system supported by the application program;
responsive to determining that the identity of the version or patch is set forth in the support matrix, continuing supported execution of the application program on the operating system; and
responsive to determining that the identity of the version or patch is set forth in the support matrix, providing an indication that the operating system is not supported.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the operating system is a hypervisor.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the operating system is a guest operating system configured to execute on a hypervisor.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the indication comprises termination of the application program.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the indication comprises communication of an error message associated with the application program.
