## Abstract

A system architecture of a gift transaction system is disclosed. The gift transaction system can include a buyer interface module, a recipient interface module, a merchant backend interface module, a store front interface module, a curation module, a reminder module, an analytics module, or a media plug-in interface module. A method of operating the gift transaction system under the system architecture includes: providing an embedded widget on a website to determine gift intent to initiate a gift transaction by a buyer account for a recipient account; generating a gift buyer interface for a first client device to personalize a gift package including a gift item; generating a gift recipient interface for a second client device to customize the gift package; and communicating with a merchant backend system to complete the gift transaction to ship the gift package.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising updating a graph edge of a gift social graph based on the gift transaction; wherein the graph edge stores a directional connection from a buyer account profile of the buyer account to a recipient account profile of the recipient account.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising storing an edge weight to the graph edge based on a price of the gift item.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising associating the graph edge with a gift type of the gift item.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising updating a taste profile of the buyer account based on the gift item.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising updating a taste profile of the recipient account based on the customized gift package.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising calculating a giftability score for the gift item to facilitate determination of gift suggestions based on at least how frequently the gift item is being exchanged through the gift recipient interface.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising calculating a giftability score for the gift item to facilitate determination of gift suggestions based on at least how frequently the gift item is accepted through the gift recipient interface.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising calculating a giftability score for the gift item to facilitate determination of gift suggestions based on at least how frequently the gift item is purchased through the gift buyer interface.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
storing a customized gift bundle via the merchant backend system; and
presenting the customized gift bundle as a gift suggestion via the gift buyer interface.

### Claim 18 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising sending a reminder message to the recipient account at a fixed time period prior to a price change event for the gift item.

### Claim 19 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising generating an exchange network of merchant stores, wherein the gift item from a referring store of the merchant stores can be exchanged with products or services provided by an alternative store of the exchange network.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the referring store is credited a fee from the alternative store in response to the recipient account exchanging the gift item from the referring store to an alternative item from the alternative store.

### Claim 21 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising authenticating the gift transaction based on a geographical location determined by an internet protocol (IP) address received at the gift buyer interface.

### Claim 22 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising authenticating the gift transaction based on a geographical location determined by an internet protocol (IP) address received at the gift recipient interface.

### Claim 23 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
determining a similarity amongst multiple gift transactions including a same buyer, a same recipient, a same payment information, or a same shipping address;
detecting the similarity in the gift transaction; and
marking the gift transaction as a potential fraud transaction based on the detected similarity in the gift transaction.

### Claim 24 (depends on 1)
