## Abstract

In one embodiment, a conference bridge receives a call initiated by a first caller endpoint. The conference bridge identifies a conference to which the call requests entry and determines whether the conference bridge has available resources to process the call. The conference bridge enables the call to join the conference via a second conference bridge associated with a second caller endpoint participating in the conference according to whether the conference bridge has available resources to process the call.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method comprising:
receiving, via a first endpoint having conference bridge capabilities, a call request from a multimedia conference bridge hosting a conference call associated with the call request, wherein the call request is initially sent from a second endpoint to the multimedia conference bridge and subsequently forwarded by the multimedia conference bridge to the first endpoint in response to a transfer triggering event;
identifying a connection between the first endpoint and the conference call through the multimedia conference bridge device; and
in response to the call request, connecting the second endpoint to the conference call via the first endpoint based on the connection between the first endpoint and the conference call.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination that the multimedia conference bridge does not have available resources to connect the second endpoint to the conference call.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination of a low call quality.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a selection of a network for connecting the second endpoint to the conference call, the network being selected based on network characteristics.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the conference call comprises a video call, the first endpoint having video conference bridging capabilities.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the call request comprises a conference identifier.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising sending device capabilities of the first endpoint to the multimedia conference bridge, the device capabilities comprising conferencing capabilities.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the device capabilities comprise at least one of conferencing resources and an associated network.

### Claim 9

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving, via a first endpoint having conference bridge capabilities, a call request initiated from a second endpoint and forwarded to the first endpoint by a conference bridge hosting a conference call associated with the call request, the call request being forwarded by the conference bridge in response to a transfer triggering event;
identifying a connection between the first endpoint and the conference call through the conference bridge device; and
in response to the call request, connecting the second endpoint to the conference call via the first endpoint based on the connection between the first endpoint and the conference call.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination that the conference bridge does not have available resources to connect the second endpoint to the conference call.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination of a low call quality.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a selection of a network for connecting the second endpoint to the conference call, the network being selected based on network characteristics.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the conference call comprises a video call, the first endpoint having video conference bridging capabilities.

### Claim 14 (depends on 9)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9, wherein the call request comprises a conference identifier, the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing additional instructions which, when executed by the processor, result in an operation further comprising sending device capabilities of the first endpoint to the conference bridge, the device capabilities comprising conferencing capabilities.

### Claim 15

A system comprising:
a processor; and
a computer-readable storage medium having stored therein instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving, via the system, a call request initiated from a first endpoint and forwarded to the system by a multimedia conference bridge hosting a conference call associated with the call request, the call request being forwarded by the multimedia conference bridge in response to a transfer triggering event, wherein the system comprises a second endpoint having conference bridge capabilities;
identifying a connection between the system and the conference call through the multimedia conference bridge device; and
in response to the call request, connecting the first endpoint to the conference call via the system based on the connection between the system and the conference call.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination that the multimedia conference bridge does not have available resources to connect the first endpoint to the conference call.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a determination of a low call quality.

### Claim 18 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the transfer triggering event comprises a selection of a network for connecting the first endpoint to the conference call, the network being selected based on network characteristics.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15, wherein the conference call comprises a video call, the system having video conference bridging capabilities.

### Claim 20 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15, wherein the call request comprises a conference identifier, the computer-readable storage medium storing additional instructions which, when executed by the processor, result in an operation further comprising sending device capabilities of the system to the multimedia conference bridge, the device capabilities comprising at least one of conferencing capabilities, conferencing resources, and an associated network.
