## Abstract

An exhaust system is manufactured in the following manner. Initially, a plurality of pipe sections are put into each other with a clearance fit, so that connecting points are formed, at which two pipe sections overlap each other. The pipe sections then are calibrated at the connecting points, so that a narrow gap is obtained. Subsequently, the connecting points are soldered. The exhaust system thus includes a plurality of pipe sections which are put into each other and soldered to each other. Outer pipe sections of the plurality of pipe sections are calibrated.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for manufacturing an exhaust system comprising the following steps:
putting a plurality of pipe sections into each other with a clearance fit, so that connecting points are formed, at which two pipe sections overlap each other;
calibrating the pipe sections at the connecting points, so that a narrow gap is obtained; and
soldering the connecting points.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein in the calibrating step, a pressure is applied onto an outer pipe of the two pipe sections in radial direction to the inside, so that at least the outer pipe is deformed plastically.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the entire exhaust system is put together and all connecting points of the exhaust system are calibrated substantially at the same time.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein all connecting points of the exhaust system are soldered substantially at the same time.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the exhaust system is soldered in a horizontal orientation.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein before putting the pipe sections together a solder materials been applied at one end of a pipe section.

### Claim 7

An exhaust system comprising:
a plurality of pipe sections which are put into each other and soldered to each other, wherein outer pipe sections of the plurality of pipe sections are calibrated.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The exhaust system according to claim 7, wherein the plurality of pipe sections comprises more than five different pipe sections.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The exhaust system according to claim 8, wherein the plurality of pipe sections comprises more than ten different pipe sections.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The exhaust system according to claim 7, wherein at least one of the pipe sections is a coupling sleeve.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The exhaust system according to claim 10, wherein straight pipe sections with interposed curved coupling sleeves are used.
