## Abstract

Methods and apparatus for providing a personalized entertainment experience, which may be customized for each user. A user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions may be captured and associated with each played/presented composition. A target time for playback/presentation of a composition to the user may be determined by using a user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions. The target time for playback/presentation may incorporate a target time between playbacks/presentations of a composition, which may be at least partially based on a user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions. A customized sequence of compositions may be automatically generated for each user. The personalized sequence may automatically adapt to changing user actions and preferences over time. The user's collection of compositions may be automatically integrated with the generated customized sequence. In one embodiment, a target time for next playback/presentation may incorporate a time between playback/presentation, which is at least partially based on the cumulative time that the user has experienced a composition.

## Claims

### Claim 1

Apparatus personalized music or entertainment, comprising:
a processor or processors configured to:
capture a cumulative-time of playback or presentation, of a composition to a user;
determine a target time for playback or presentation of said composition to said user;
wherein said target time for playback or presentation is at least partially based on said cumulative-time;
select said composition for playback or presentation to said user, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: initiate a playback or presentation of said selected composition to said user.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: play or present said composition to said user, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: play or present a personalized sequence that includes other compositions; wherein said composition is included in said sequence, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation of said composition.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation is at least partially based upon a target time between playback or presentation of the composition.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, is dependent on a previous time played or presented to said user, and a target time between playback or presentation, that is at least partially based on said cumulative-time.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which at least partially based on a relationship which varies with said cumulative-time.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

Apparatus as in claim 7 wherein said relationship is defined by a curve, lookup table, database, equation, polynomial, digital differential analyzer, mathematical function or formula.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

Apparatus as in claim 7 wherein said relationship is non-linear.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

Apparatus as in claim 7 wherein said relationship is monotonic.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

Apparatus as in claim 7 wherein said relationship is not monotonic.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

Apparatus as in claim 7 wherein said relationship has three or more values.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said cumulative-time is a cumulative amount of time that the composition has been played or presented to the user on multiple occasions.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said cumulative-time is a cumulative amount of time said composition was played or presented to the user at a plurality of user-devices.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said cumulative-time is a cumulative amount of time the composition has been viewed or interacted-with, by the user.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: use a relationship or relationships where the target time for playback or presentation, dependently varies with said cumulative-time that the composition has been played or presented to the user.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time between playback or presentation is at least partially determined by using: a target time between playback or presentation which varies with said cumulative-time, and a prior time when said composition was played or presented to said user.

### Claim 18 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: use a relationship or relationships where the target time dependently varies with said cumulative-time that the composition has been viewed or interacted-with, by the user.

### Claim 19

An apparatus-implemented method for personalized music or entertainment, the method comprising:
capturing, by a processor or processors, a cumulative-time of playback or presentation, of a composition to a user;
determining, by a processor or processors, a target time for playback or presentation of said composition to said user; wherein said target time for playback or presentation is at least partially based on said cumulative-time;
selecting said composition for playback or presentation to said user, by a processor or processors, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 20

One or more computer-readable memories or media, not including carrier-waves, having computer-readable instructions thereon which, when executed by one or more processing devices, implement a method of:
capturing, by a processor or processors, a cumulative-time of playback or presentation, of a composition to a user;
determining, by a processor or processors, a target time for playback or presentation of said composition to said user; wherein said target time for playback or presentation is at least partially based on said cumulative-time;
selecting said composition for playback or presentation to said user, by a processor or processors, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.
