## Abstract

Event data pattern identification, storage, and sharing in a peer-to-peer network is disclosed. This includes peer-to-peer devices that store data events, review previously stored data events and identify patterns between the stored events and newly received events. Improvements can serve to reduce duplicative traffic and enhance network performance.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A computer program product for identifying patterns of events, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions readable by a processor to cause the processor to perform a method comprising:
identifying, at a processor, a new pattern data event at a peer-to-peer device;
reading, by the processor, previous pattern data events from a plurality of peer-to-peer devices, the previous pattern data events stored at a storage device; and
determining, by the processor, if the new pattern data event at the peer-to-peer device corresponds with a pattern data event that has previously occurred in one or more peer-to-peer devices and is stored at the storage device,
wherein the processor is located at a networked peer-to-peer device from a plurality of networked peer-to-peer devices of the same network.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events from claim 1 wherein the storage device stores a plurality of patterned data events previously occurring at one or more peer-to-peer device form the peer-to-peer devices of the same network.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events from claim 2 wherein the plurality of patterned data events stored at the storage device include an event body and transfer path information,
the event body including an event ID, an event source, and event content, and
the transfer path information identifying the identification of the source of the event and transfer path information.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events from claim 2 wherein the storage device stores for each event, of the the plurality of patterned data events: an event identification; an event time; and event source; a sender identification; and a receive identification.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events of claim 1 where the computer readable storage medium has program instructions embodied therewith that are readable by the processor and cause the processor to also:
transfer new pattern data event received at a peer-to-peer device to a second peer-to-peer device of the same network and different than the sender of the new pattern data event.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events of claim 1 where the computer readable storage medium has program instructions embodied therewith that are readable by the processor and cause the processor to also:
store a collection of pattern data events for use by an adjacent peer-to-peer device accessible to the same network as the processor.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The computer program product for identifying patterns of events of claim 1 where the computer readable storage medium has program instructions embodied therewith that are readable by the processor and cause the processor to also:
update previous pattern data events from a plurality of peer-to-peer devices stored at the storage device.

### Claim 8

A computer process for identifying patterns of events in a peer-to-peer network, the process comprising:
identifying, at a microprocessor, a new pattern data event at a peer-to-peer device;
reading, by the microprocessor, previous pattern data events from a plurality of peer-to-peer devices, the previous pattern data events stored at a storage device; and
determining, by the microprocessor, if the new pattern data event at the peer-to-peer device corresponds with a pattern data event that has previously occurred in one or more peer-to-peer devices and is stored at the storage device,
wherein the microprocessor is located at a networked peer-to-peer device from a plurality of networked peer-to-peer devices of the same network.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The computer process of claim 8 wherein the storage device stores a plurality of patterned data events previously occurring at one or more peer-to-peer device form the peer-to-peer devices of the same network.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The computer process of claim 9 wherein the plurality of patterned data events stored at the storage device include an event body and transfer path information,
the event body including an event ID, an event source, and event content, and
the transfer path information identifying the identification of the source of the event and transfer path information.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The computer process of claim 9 wherein the storage device stores for each event, of the the plurality of patterned data events: an event identification; an event time; and event source; a sender identification; and a receive identification.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The computer process of claim 8 further comprising:
transferring new pattern data event received at a peer-to-peer device to a second peer-to-peer device of the same network and different than the sender of the new pattern data event.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The computer process of claim 8 further comprising:
storing a collection of pattern data events for use by an adjacent peer-to-peer device accessible to the same network as the processor.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The computer process of claim 8 further comprising:
updating previous pattern data events from a plurality of peer-to-peer devices stored at the storage device.
