## Abstract

A method of power management for an electronic device that is coupled to a protective case for the electronic device is provided. The method includes receiving data including a charge level of a battery of the protective case, identifying a charge level of a battery of the electronic device, and generating a graphical representation. The graphical representation includes an indication of the charge level of the protective case battery and an indication of a charge level of the electronic device battery. The method further includes displaying the graphical representation on a display of the electronic device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of power management for an electronic device having a computer processor and a battery, the electronic device being communicatively coupled to a protective case for the electronic device, the method comprising:
receiving, from the protective case, data including a charge level of a battery of the protective case;
identifying a charge level of a battery of the electronic device;
generating, using the computer processor, a graphical representation that includes an indication of the charge level of the protective case battery and includes an indication of a charge level of the electronic device battery; and
displaying, on a display of the electronic device, the graphical representation.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein:
the received data further includes a mode of the protective case; and
the graphical representation further includes an indication of the mode of the protective case.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2 wherein the mode of the protective case indicates whether the protective case is receiving power from an external power source.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2 wherein the mode of the protective case indicates whether the protective case battery is presently being charged.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the graphical representation further includes an indication of a charging status of the electronic device battery.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising transmitting, to electronic circuitry of the protective case, the charge level of the electronic device battery.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the graphical representation further includes an indication of a percentage charge remaining for each of the protective case battery and the electronic device battery.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising:
gathering operational information of the electronic device; and
transmitting the gathered operational information of the electronic device to the protective case.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising:
receiving, from a user of the electronic device via the electronic device, power management preferences; and
transmitting the power management preferences to the protective case.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)
