## Abstract

Methods and apparatus for providing a personalized entertainment experience, which may be customized for each user. A user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions may be captured and associated with each played/presented composition. A target time for playback/presentation of a composition to the user may be determined by using a user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions. The target time for playback/presentation may incorporate a target time between playbacks/presentations of a composition, which may be at least partially based on a user's playback/presentation history and/or user actions. A customized sequence of compositions may be automatically generated for each user. The personalized sequence may automatically adapt to changing user actions and preferences over time. The user's collection of compositions may be automatically integrated with the generated customized sequence. In one embodiment, a target time for next playback/presentation may incorporate a time between playback/presentation, which is at least partially based on a count of the number of times the user has experienced a composition.

## Claims

### Claim 1

Apparatus for personalized music or entertainment, comprising:
a processor or processors configured to:
capture a count of playbacks or presentations, of a composition to a user;
determine a target time for playback or presentation of said composition to said user;
wherein said target time for playback or presentation, is at least partially based on said count;
select said composition for playback or presentation to said user, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: initiate playback or presentation of said selected composition to said user, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: play or present said composition to said user, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said processor or processors are configured to also: play or present a personalized sequence that includes other compositions; wherein said composition is included in said sequence, at least partially based upon said target time for playback or presentation of said composition.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said count includes playbacks or presentations of said composition to said user that occurred at a plurality of user-devices.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, dependently varies with said count.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation is at least partially based upon: a target time between playback or presentation of said composition, that is at least partially based on said count.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which varies with said count.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation of the composition to the user, is determined at least partially based on a relationship that uses said count and a clock-time when the composition was played or presented to the user.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, is dependent on a previous time said composition was played or presented to said user, and a target time between playback or presentation that is at least partially based on said count.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said relationship is defined by a curve, lookup table, database, equation, polynomial, digital differential analyzer, mathematical function or formula.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said relationship is non-linear.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said relationship is monotonic.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said relationship is not monotonic.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said relationship has three or more values.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein, at higher values of said count, said target time between playback or presentation increases with increasing values of the count.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said target time between playback or presentation, initially decreases in value with increasing low values of said count, and then said target time between playback or presentation increases in value with increasingly higher values of the count.

### Claim 18 (depends on 1)

Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said target time for playback or presentation, incorporates a target time between playback or presentation of said composition which is at least partially based on a relationship that varies with said count; wherein said target time between playback or presentation is initially substantially constant in value with increasing low values of said count, and then said target time between playback or presentation then increases in value with increasingly higher values of the count.

### Claim 19

An apparatus-implemented method for personalized music or entertainment, the method comprising:
capturing, by a processor or processors, a count of playbacks or presentations, of a composition to a user;
determining, by a processor or processors, a target time for playback or presentation of said composition to said user; wherein said target time is at least partially based on said count;
