## Abstract

A shoulder and arm orthosis assembly for supporting at least one of a shoulder, arm, wrist and hand of a user in a desired position. The orthosis assembly provides a reconfigurable sling with a reconfigurable shoulder strap, a reconfigurable wrist/hand orthosis, and a reconfigurable pillow support to hold the arm of the user away from the body. The reconfigurable sling has attached inner and outer portions that are configured to be at least partially detached and reattached with one another and has indicia thereon to assist in support placement. The reconfigurable wrist/hand orthosis may be supported by the reconfigurable sling when it is closed and may be permitted to exit the sling when the sling is opened while continuing support for the arm of the user.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A reconfigurable sling assembly, the sling comprising:
an inner portion configured to rest between a user forearm and the body of a user;
an attachment extension connected with said inner portion about a substantially longitudinal adjacent edge;
a gusset portion connected with said inner portion about a substantially vertical adjacent edge;
an outer portion connected with the gusset portion about a substantially vertical adjacent edge opposite the inner portion, wherein said outer portion and said attachment extension are configured to attach and detach from one another at varying positions; and
a strap configured to be connectable with at least one of said inner portion and said outer portion and support said sling assembly.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The sling assembly of claim 1, further comprising a support configured to position said sling away from the waist of the user.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The sling assembly of claim 1, wherein said outer portion further comprises a securing portion, and wherein said attachment extension is configured to attach and detach with said securing portion by a user.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The sling assembly of claim 1, further comprising a first attachment strap configured to be connectable with at least one of said inner portion and said outer portion at one end and connectable with said strap at an opposing end.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The sling assembly of claim 4, further comprising a clip mounted to said first attachment strap and said strap, and configured to provide a secondary detachable connection point.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The sling assembly of claim 4, wherein said first attachment strap comprises at least one attachment first indicia positioned thereon.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The sling assembly of claim 6, wherein said outer portion comprises at least one securing first indicia positioned thereon substantially similar to said at least one attachment first indicia.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The sling assembly of claim 1, wherein said sling assembly further comprises a second strap configured to be connectable with at least one of said inner portion and said outer portion at an opposite end of said inner portion from said gusset portion.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The sling assembly of claim 8, further comprising a second attachment strap configured to be connectable with at least one of said inner portion and said outer portion at one end and connectable with said second strap at an opposing end.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The sling assembly of claim 9, further comprising a ring mounted to said second attachment strap and configured to be connectable with said second strap.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The sling assembly of claim 9, wherein said second attachment strap comprises at least one attachment second indicia positioned thereon.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The sling assembly of claim 11, wherein said inner portion comprises at least one securing second indicia positioned thereon substantially similar to said at least one attachment second indicia.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The sling assembly of claim 8, wherein said second strap comprises at least one attachment third indicia positioned thereon.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The sling assembly of claim 13, wherein said strap comprises at least one securing third indicia positioned thereon substantially similar to said at least one attachment third indicia.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The sling assembly of claim 1, further comprising a wrist/hand orthosis configured to attach and detach with said sling assembly.

### Claim 16

An orthosis assembly for supporting at least one of a shoulder, arm, wrist and hand of a user comprising:
a reconfigurable sling comprising inner and outer portions, wherein said inner and outer portions are configured to be detached and reattached and at least one of said inner and outer portion has identifying first indicia;
a wrist/hand orthosis configured to be supported by said sling, and
a reconfigurable first strap configured to be positioned over a shoulder of a user and having identifying first indicia positioned thereon.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The orthosis assembly of claim 16, further comprising a reconfigurable second strap configured to be positioned about the torso of a user and having at least one set of substantially similar third indicia.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The orthosis assembly of claim 17, further comprising a reconfigurable attachment strap configured to connect to said second strap and having at identifying second indicia.

### Claim 19

A method to reconfigure a shoulder and arm orthosis assembly, the method comprising:
positioning a strap of a sling of said shoulder and arm orthosis assembly about a neck of a user, wherein said strap has a set of substantially similar first indicia at attachment points;
positioning an arm, wrist and hand of a user into a wrist/arm orthosis positioned within said sling; and
reconfiguring said strap where said set of substantially similar first indicia is positioned.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, further comprising:
positioning a second strap of said sling, having a set of substantially similar second indicia, from the sling to said strap; and
reconfiguring said second strap where said set of substantially similar second indicia is positioned.
