## Abstract

A fluid sensor comprises a formed plastic body and a reagent. The body has a top face with an integral first surface. The body also has a bottom face opposed to the first surface and a sidewall that extends from the periphery of the top face. The first surface is adapted to accept a fluid sample. The reagent is disposed on the integral first surface and causes a color change detectable on the bottom face when the reagent reacts with an analyte in the fluid sample.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-58. (canceled)

### Claim 59

A test sensor, comprising:
a plastic body having a top portion and a sidewall extending from the periphery of the top portion, the top portion to accept a fluid sample;
a reagent disposed on the top portion to cause a detectable color change when the reagent reacts with an analyte in the fluid sample; and
a lid coupled to the plastic body, the lid having a first open end and a second closed end.

### Claim 60 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the second closed end of the lid forms a barrier to the reagent disposed on the top portion.

### Claim 61 (depends on 60)

The test sensor of claim 60, wherein the barrier formed by the lid is an opaque barrier.

### Claim 62 (depends on 61)

The test sensor of claim 61, wherein the second closed end of the lid includes a plurality of vent holes formed therein.

### Claim 63 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the lid is coupled to the plastic body via sonic welding or an adhesive.

### Claim 64 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the lid is coupled to the plastic body via a snap fit connection.

### Claim 65 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the lid includes impermeable plastic.

### Claim 66 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the lid is attached to the plastic body, thereby forming a capillary chamber between the lid and the top portion.

### Claim 67 (depends on 59)

The test sensor of claim 59, wherein the top portion is transparent and the lid is opaque.

### Claim 68

A test sensor, comprising:
a plastic body having a top face with an integral first surface, a bottom face with a second surface opposed to the first surface, and a sidewall extending from the periphery of the top face, the integral first surface being configured to accept a fluid sample;
a reagent disposed on the integral first surface of the top face, the reagent to cause a detectable color change when the reagent reacts with an analyte in the fluid sample; and
a lid coupled to the plastic body such that the lid forms a barrier to the reagent disposed on the integral first surface.

### Claim 69 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the barrier formed by the lid is an opaque barrier.

### Claim 70 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the lid has a first open end and a second closed end.

### Claim 71 (depends on 70)

The test sensor of claim 70, wherein the second closed end of the lid includes a plurality of vent holes formed therein.

### Claim 72 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the lid is coupled to the plastic body via sonic welding or an adhesive.

### Claim 73 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the lid is coupled to the plastic body via a snap fit connection.

### Claim 74 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the sidewall of the plastic body forms a protrusion, the lid including a groove that mates with the protrusion on the sidewall of the plastic body when the lid is coupled to the plastic body.

### Claim 75 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the lid includes impermeable plastic.

### Claim 76 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the plastic body has a hollow frustum shape with a larger open end and a smaller closed end.

### Claim 77 (depends on 76)

The test sensor of claim 76, wherein the lid has a hollow frustum shape with a larger open end and a smaller closed end.

### Claim 78 (depends on 68)

The test sensor of claim 68, wherein the lid is a rectangular plastic strip, the lid being coupled to the formed plastic body, thereby forming a plurality of vent openings.
