## Abstract

The present invention relates to an isolated antigen from Streptomyces coelicolor that is useful for developing, inter alia, vaccines against pathogenic bacteria of humans and animals. The present invention also relates to vaccines and antibodies developed using the isolated antigen. The present invention also relates to methods of using the antigen, vaccines, and antibodies of the present invention to detect, treat, and prevent infection and diseases associated with pathogenic bacteria.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An isolated antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds with high affinity to an antigen, wherein said antigen comprises:
(a) an isolated metal-citrate transporter from Streptomyces coelicolor; or
(b) an isolated immunogenic polypeptide fragment of said metal-citrate transporter, wherein said immunogenic fragment retains an antigenic activity of said metal-citrate transporter.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is suitable for oral, parenteral, intravenous, subcutaneous, intranasal, or aerosolized administration in a human or animal.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is a polyclonal antibody or a monoclonal antibody.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The antibody according to claim 2, wherein the monoclonal antibody is of a type selected from the group consisting of a human monoclonal antibody, a chimeric monoclonal antibody, a murine monoclonal antibody, and a humanized monoclonal antibody.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The antibody according to claim 2, wherein the monoclonal antibody is a single chain monoclonal antibody.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
the antibody according to claim 1; and
a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6 further comprising a physiologically acceptable antibiotic.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

An isolated antisera containing the antibody according to claim 1.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

A diagnostic kit comprising the antibody according to claim 1 and a detecting agent for detecting binding by that antibody.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The diagnostic kit according to claim 9, wherein said detecting agent comprises a detectable label that is linked to said antibody.
