## Abstract

A method for preventing and treating one or more disease states including the steps of altering the diet of an individual and then administering a drug to the individual. Plasma vitamin C level is reduced from a first level to a second level that is lower than the first level, such that a pharmacological response of the body of the individual to a drug at the first level is different from the pharmacological response of the body of said individual to the drug at the second level.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for preventing and treating one or more disease states, the method comprising the steps of:
a) altering a diet of an individual having a plasma vitamin C level in order to reduce the plasma vitamin C level from a first level to a second level that is lower than the first level, wherein a pharmacological response of the body of said individual to a drug at the first level is different from the pharmacological response of the body of said individual to the drug at the second level; and
b) administering said drug to said individual.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1 further comprising the step of measuring the plasma vitamin C level of said individual prior to administering the drug.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the plasma vitamin C level is maintained at the second level for at least one month.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1 further comprising the step of administering an anti-vitamin C substance to the individual prior to administering the drug to reduce the plasma vitamin C level from the second level to a third level that is lower than the first or second levels.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method according to claim 4, wherein administering the anti-vitamin C substance causes a fulminating scurvy condition to occur in the individual.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method according to claim 4, wherein the anti-vitamin C substance is selected from the group consisting of a metal substance, a metalloid substance, an organic agent, an oxidizing agent, an infectious agent, and arsenic.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the plasma vitamin C level is reduced until the individual is scorbutic.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said drug is an agent for altering a level of cholesterol present in lipid rafts on a cell membrane in a plurality of diseased cells within said individual.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein said drug is comprised of a clathrate forming substance.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, wherein the clathrate-forming substance is an anesthetic agent.

### Claim 11

A method for improving the removal of toxic fat deposits from the body of an individual for the purpose of preventing and treating disease, the method comprising the steps of:
a) determining the individual's plasma vitamin C level; and
b) altering the individual's diet in order to reduce the individual's plasma vitamin C level from a first level to a second level that is lower than the first level such that pathological modification of lipid rafts of said individual occurs;
c) administering a treatment regimen selected from the group consisting of: administering a drug for the treatment of a diseased state to said individual, the drug selected from the group consisting of: a clathrate forming substance and an agent for altering a level of cholesterol present in lipid rafts on a cell membrane in a plurality of diseased cells within said individual; and administering a microbe for the treatment of a diseased state to said individual, the microbe.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method according to claim 11 wherein the plasma vitamin C level is maintained at the second level for at least one month.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The method according to claim 11 further comprising the step of administering an anti-vitamin C substance to reduce the plasma vitamin C level from the second level to a third level that is lower than the first or second levels, the anti-vitamin C substance is selected from the group consisting of a metal substance, a metalloid substance, an organic agent, an oxidizing agent, an infectious agent, and arsenic.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The method according to claim 11, wherein the plasma vitamin C level is reduced until the individual becomes scorbutic.

### Claim 15 (depends on 11)

The method according to claim 11 further comprising the step of administering a microbe to the individual.

### Claim 16

A method for the treatment of a pathogenic new growth in a patient, said method comprising the step of lowering a concentration of ascorbic acid or an oxidized or reduced derivative thereof in said pathogenic new growth for reducing the size thereof by scurvy induced phagocytosis.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

A method according to claim 16 further comprising the step of administering an anti-vitamin C agent to the patient for lowering a concentration of ascorbic acid or an oxidized or reduced derivative thereof in said pathogenic new growth.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

A method according to claim 16 further comprising the step of administering a clathrate forming substance in the form of an anesthetic agent.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

A method according to claim 18, wherein said anesthetic agent is an ether compound.

### Claim 20 (depends on 16)

A method according to claim 16, wherein said pathogenic new growth is selected from the group consisting of: cancerous lesions, tuberculosis lesions, lupus lesions and those lesions associated with insanity.
