## CPC

- H04N 19/70: characterised by syntax aspects related to video coding, e.g. related to compression standards
- H04N 19/597: specially adapted for multi-view video sequence encoding
- H04N 19/34: Scalability techniques involving progressive bit-plane based encoding of the enhancement layer, e.g. fine granular scalability [FGS]
- H04N: PICTORIAL COMMUNICATION, e.g. TELEVISION

## Abstract

The VPS and vps_extension( ) syntax structures are updated with some cleanups for the HEVC Extensions in scalable video coding, multi-view coding and 3D video coding areas. In addition, four options of adding syntaxes to support mixed video sequences in various layers for the VPS extension are described.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method programmed in a non-transitory memory of a device comprising:
a. decoding content; and
b. accessing information related to the content, wherein the information comprises video parameter set data, further wherein the video parameter set data comprises mixed signaling information.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein a video parameter set function used in determining the video parameter set data is under a condition of a video parameter set extension flag.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein byte-alignment syntaxes used in determining the video parameter set data are under a condition of a video parameter set extension flag.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the video parameter set data includes a raw byte sequence payload trailing bits value.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the video parameter set data is determined without using byte alignment syntaxes.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using two syntaxes for mixed sequence signaling support.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using a source mixed codec flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using a source mixed video present flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using specific application support and a source mixed video present flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising encoding the content.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a personal computer, a laptop computer, a computer workstation, a server, a mainframe computer, a handheld computer, a personal digital assistant, a cellular/mobile telephone, a smart appliance, a gaming console, a digital camera, a digital camcorder, a camera phone, a smart phone, a portable music player, a tablet computer, a mobile device, a video player, a video disc writer/player, a high definition disc writer/player, an ultra high definition disc writer/player), a television, a home entertainment system, or a smart watch.

### Claim 12

A method programmed in a non-transitory memory of a device comprising:
a. providing content; and
b. enabling access of information related to the content, wherein the information comprises video parameter set data, further wherein the video parameter set data comprises mixed signaling information.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein a video parameter set function used in determining the video parameter set data is under a condition of a video parameter set extension flag.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein byte-alignment syntaxes used in determining the video parameter set data are under a condition of a video parameter set extension flag.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the video parameter set data includes a raw byte sequence payload trailing bits value.

### Claim 16 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the video parameter set data is determined without using byte alignment syntaxes.

### Claim 17 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using two syntaxes for mixed sequence signaling support.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using a source mixed codec flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The method of claim 18 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using a source mixed video present flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 20 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the video parameter set data is determined using specific application support and a source mixed video present flag syntax parameter.

### Claim 21 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 further comprising encoding the content.

### Claim 22 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12 wherein the device comprises a personal computer, a laptop computer, a computer workstation, a server, a mainframe computer, a handheld computer, a personal digital assistant, a cellular/mobile telephone, a smart appliance, a gaming console, a digital camera, a digital camcorder, a camera phone, a smart phone, a portable music player, a tablet computer, a mobile device, a video player, a video disc writer/player, a high definition disc writer/player, an ultra high definition disc writer/player), a television, a home entertainment system, or a smart watch.
