## Abstract

A spectroscopy assembly having a first and a second optical ring resonator, each provided with a material having an intensity-dependent refraction index. The spectroscopy assembly further includes at least one waveguide, which is guided along the optical ring resonator at a distance such that the light of a continuous wave laser guided in the waveguide can be coupled into the optical ring resonator, and a frequency comb generated from the light of the continuous wave laser in the optical ring resonator can be coupled out of the waveguide. The optical ring resonators and the at least one waveguide are provided on a common substrate.

## Claims

### Claim 1

Spectroscopy assembly having a first and a second optical ring resonators each comprising a material with an intensity-dependent refraction index, further having at least one waveguide which is guided along the optical ring resonator at such a distance that light of a continuous wave laser guided in the waveguide may be coupled into the optical ring resonator and a frequency comb generated from the light of the continuous wave laser in the optical ring resonator may be coupled out into the waveguide, where the optical ring resonators and the at least one waveguide are provided on a common substrate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein the substrate is a semiconductor chip.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein the substrate comprises silicon.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein a common waveguide is provided for coupling in continuous wave laser radiation into both ring resonators.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein for each optical ring resonator, a separate waveguide is provided.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 5, wherein a common waveguide on the substrate is split into two waveguides on the coupling-in side for the radiation of the continuous wave laser.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each microresonator is coupled with two waveguides each, one being used for pumping the microresonator with the light of the continuous wave laser, and the other waveguide being used for coupling the frequency comb out of the ring resonator.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein a common continuous wave laser or two separate continuous wave lasers are provided for pumping the two optical ring resonators.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein the at least one continuous wave laser is provided on the same substrate as the optical ring resonators and the at least one waveguide.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein at least one optical detector is provided on the same substrate as the optical ring resonators and the at least one waveguide.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein the optical ring resonators, the one or the several waveguides and—if provided on the substrate—the at least one continuous wave laser and/or the at least one optical detector are generated by microstructuring methods on the substrate.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein the at least one continuous wave laser comprises a seed laser and an optical amplifier following the same.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein two photodetectors are provided, wherein light from both optical ring resonators may be fed to both photodetectors, wherein, however, a sample chamber is only provided in one of the two paths of light leading to one of the two photodetectors.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein a sample chamber supplied via microfluid channels is provided.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein for pumping at least one of the optical ring resonators, a multimode pumping source with two or more longitudinal modes with a tunable mode distance is provided.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

Spectroscopy assembly according to claim 1, wherein at least one ring resonator is configured for coupling two or more mode families of different free spectral ranges by the geometry of the ring resonator, by corrugations of the resonator wall, or by a non-circular deformation of the resonator geometry.
