## Abstract

A rotor gear mounting assembly for a generator includes a rotor shaft comprising a first end and a second end. Also included is a magnetic member arrangement operatively coupled to the rotor shaft proximate at least one of the first end and the second end. Further included is a hub portion of the magnetic member arrangement. Yet further included is a rotor gear operatively coupled to the hub portion.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A rotor gear mounting assembly for a generator comprising:
a rotor shaft comprising a first end and a second end;
a magnetic member arrangement operatively coupled to the rotor shaft proximate at least one of the first end and the second end;
a hub portion of the magnetic member arrangement; and
a rotor gear operatively coupled to the hub portion.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the rotor shaft comprises a shaft outer surface having a first diameter, and wherein the hub portion comprises a hub outer surface having a second diameter that is less than the first diameter.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the magnetic member arrangement is threadingly engaged with the rotor shaft.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the rotor gear is threadingly engaged with the hub portion.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the hub portion is disposed axially beyond the first end of the rotor shaft.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the hub portion is disposed axially beyond the second end of the rotor shaft.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the rotor shaft further comprises a shaft pilot component for locating the magnetic member arrangement.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 7, wherein the magnetic member arrangement further comprises a magnetic member pilot component corresponding to the shaft pilot component.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 1, wherein the hub portion further comprises a hub pilot component for locating the rotor gear.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The rotor gear mounting assembly of claim 9, wherein the rotor gear further comprises a rotor gear pilot component corresponding to the hub pilot.

### Claim 11

A method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator comprising:
operatively coupling a magnetic member arrangement to an outer surface of a rotor shaft proximate an end of the rotor shaft; and
operatively coupling a rotor gear to a hub portion of the magnetic member arrangement.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator of claim 11, further comprising operatively coupling the rotor gear to the hub portion at an axial location beyond the end of the rotor shaft.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator of claim 11, wherein operatively coupling the magnetic member arrangement to the rotor shaft comprises threadingly engaging the magnetic member arrangement with the outer surface of the rotor shaft.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator of claim 11, wherein operatively coupling the rotor gear to the hub portion comprises threadingly engaging the rotor gear with the hub portion.

### Claim 15 (depends on 11)

The method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator of claim 11, further comprising positioning and locating the magnetic member arrangement by interacting a magnetic member pilot component with a shaft pilot component.

### Claim 16 (depends on 11)

The method of mounting a rotor gear to a generator of claim 11, further comprising positioning and locating the rotor gear by interacting a rotor gear pilot component with a hub pilot component.
