## Abstract

There is provided a wind power installation pylon comprising a plurality of pylon segments which respectively have an upper and a lower horizontal flange. At least one of the plurality of the pylon segments has at least two longitudinal flanges. Each longitudinal flange has a first side for bearing against a first side of a further longitudinal flange and a second side to which the peripheral surface is welded, wherein the second side is opposite to the first side.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A wind power installation pylon comprising:
a plurality of pylon segments, each having an upper and a lower horizontal flange and a peripheral portion
wherein at least one of the plurality of the pylon segments has at least two longitudinal flanges,
and wherein each longitudinal flange has a first side for bearing against a first side of a respective other longitudinal flange and a second side welded to the peripheral portion, wherein the second side is opposite to the first side.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The wind power installation pylon according to claim 1 wherein the first sides of adjacent longitudinal flanges are at least partially fixed directly to each other, and wherein the longitudinal flanges have a third side that is visible at an exterior of the wind power installation pylon.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The wind power installation pylon according to claim 1 wherein the first side of one of the longitudinal flanges has a groove, wherein the longitudinal flanges have a plurality of through holes for receiving fasteners.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The wind power installation pylon according to claim 2 wherein a surface of the peripheral portion is substantially flush with a surface of the third side of the longitudinal flanges.

### Claim 5

A process for making a wind power installation pylon that includes a plurality of pylon segments, wherein a pylon segment has an upper and a lower horizontal flange, a peripheral portion surface and at least two longitudinal flanges, wherein the longitudinal flange has a first and a second side opposite to the first side, the method comprising:
forming a plurality of longitudinal flanges;
welding the second side of the longitudinal flanges to the peripheral portions; and
coupling two longitudinal flanges together.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The process of claim 5 wherein coupling two longitudinal flanges together comprises using a fastener to couple the two longitudinal flanges together.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The process of claim 5 wherein coupling two longitudinal flanges together comprises coupling two longitudinal flanges together at respective first sides.

### Claim 8

A wind power installation pylon comprising:
a plurality of pylon segments, each pylon segment including:
an upper horizontal flange;
a lower horizontal flange;
a peripheral portion located between the upper and lower horizontal flanges; and
first and second longitudinal flanges, each coupled to a vertical edge of the peripheral portion; and
fasteners coupling a first longitudinal flange of a first one of the pylon segments of the plurality of pylon segments to a second longitudinal flange of an adjacent pylon segment.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The wind power installation pylon according to claim 8 wherein the first and second longitudinal flanges are welded to the respective vertical surfaces of the peripheral portions.
