Abstract
Singlet oxygen metastables can be formed. A catalytic coating is formed on an interior surface of a flow reactor, and an oxygen containing species is flowed into the flow reactor to produce singlet oxygen metastables by a chemical reaction in the presence of the catalytic coating.
Claims6
A laser device comprising:
- an optical resonator;
- an electrically driven discharge device configured to produce energetic singlet oxygen metastables and an oxygen containing species;
- a catalytic reactor cavity disposed relative to the electrically driven discharge device, the catalytic reactor cavity comprising an interior surface having a catalytic coating adapted to produce additional energetic singlet oxygen metastables;
- and
- a source for a second gas disposed between the optical resonator and the catalytic reactor cavity, the second gas reacting with the energetic singlet oxygen metastables and the additional energetic singlet oxygen metastables to form an excited species in an amount sufficient to support lasing of the excited species in the optical resonator.
