Abstract
An exemplary system may automatically discovery externally added devices. In one embodiment, the system obtains initial device information for a virtual machine running on a host computing system. The system determines whether an external event occurred on the host computing system. A management computing system associated with the host computing system does not receive notification of the external event. Upon determining that the external event occurred on the host computing system, the system obtains updated device information for the virtual machine running on the host computing system.
Claims18
A method, implemented by a host computing system, comprising:
- obtaining, by the host computing system, initial device information for a virtual machine running on the host computing system;
- determining, by the host computing system, whether an external event occurred on the virtual machine running on the host computing system, wherein a management computing system associated with the host computing system does not receive a notification of the external event;
- and
- upon determining that the external event occurred on the virtual machine running on the host computing system, obtaining, by the host computing system, updated device information for the virtual machine running on the host computing system.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining, by the processing device, initial device information for a virtual machine running on a host computing system;
- determining, by the processing device, whether an external event occurred on the virtual machine running on the host computing system, wherein a management computing system associated with the host computing system does not receive a notification of the external event;
- and
- upon determining that the external event occurred on the host computing system, obtaining, by the processing device, updated device information for the virtual machine running on the host computing system.
A computing device comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing device coupled to the memory, wherein the processing device is configured to:
- obtain initial device information for a virtual machine running on a host computing system;
- determine whether an external event occurred on the virtual machine running on the host computing system, wherein a management computing system associated with the host computing system does not receive a notification of the external event;
- and
- upon determining that the external event occurred on the host computing system, obtain updated device information for the virtual machine running on the host computing system.
