Aiding people with impairments

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a device, information identifying a type of impairment;
• providing, by the device and based on the type of impairment, a user interface,
• the user interface allowing a user to specify a command and an action that is to be performed, by an application, when the command is detected,
• the action relating to the type of impairment;
• receiving, by the device, configuration information via the user interface;
• the configuration information identifying the command and the action;
• configuring, by the device, the application based on the configuration information;
• detecting, by the device and using the application, the command;
• and
• performing, by the device and using the application, the action based on detecting the command.

A computer-readable medium for storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

• a plurality of instructions, that when executed by one or more processors of a user device, cause the one or more processors to:
• associate, in memory, a command with an action;
• receive the command from a user,
• the command being associated with the action, and
• the action including audible identification of an object captured by a camera;
• initiate the camera based on receiving the command;
• and
• provide an audible signal to the user,
• the audible signal identifying the object within a viewfinder of the camera.
