Abstract
A method includes receiving an instruction to be executed by a processor. The method further includes performing a lookup in a page crossing buffer that includes one or more entries to determine if the instruction has an entry in the page crossing buffer. Each of the entries includes a physical address. The method further includes, when the page crossing buffer has the entry in the page crossing buffer, retrieving a particular physical address from the entry in the page crossing buffer.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- receiving an instruction to be executed by a processor;
- performing a lookup in a page crossing buffer that includes one or more entries, each of the entries including a physical address, to determine if the instruction has an entry in the page crossing buffer;
- and
- when the page crossing buffer has the entry in the page crossing buffer, retrieving a particular physical address from the entry in the page crossing buffer.
An apparatus comprising:
- a page crossing buffer including one or more entries, each of the one or more entries including a physical address;
- a tag array;
- and
- a multiplexer configured to select a particular physical address retrieved from the page crossing buffer in response to the page crossing buffer having an entry corresponding to a particular instruction, wherein an output of the multiplexer is provided to the tag array.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for storing one or more entries, each of the one or more entries including a physical address;
- means for performing a tag array operation;
- and
- means for selecting an address that corresponds to a particular physical address retrieved from the means for storing in response to the means for storing having an entry corresponding to a particular instruction, wherein an output of the means for selecting an address is provided to the means for performing a tag array operation.
A computer readable storage medium storing instructions that are executable within a processing system to:
- cause the processing system to receive a particular instruction for execution;
- perform a lookup in a page crossing buffer that includes one or more entries, each of the entries including a physical address, to determine if the particular instruction has an entry in the page crossing buffer;
- and
- when the page crossing buffer has the entry in the page crossing buffer, retrieve a particular physical address from the entry in the page crossing buffer.
