Distributed queue pair state on a host channel adapter

A host channel adapter (HCA) comprising:

• a plurality of modules comprising:
• a first module, configured to perform a first task, and
• a second module, configured to perform a second task;
• and
• a plurality of sub-cache blocks for storing a plurality of queue pair (QP) states, wherein the plurality of sub-cache blocks comprises:
• a first sub-cache block, associated with the first module, comprising:
• a first entry, identified by a QP index number and configured to store a first portion of a QP state, and
• a second sub-cache block, associated with the second module, comprising:
• a second entry, identified by the QP index number and configured to store a second portion of the QP state.

A system comprising:

• a host comprising:
• a processor, and
• a main memory for storing a plurality of QP states;
• and
• a host channel adapter (HCA) operatively connected to the host and comprising:
• a plurality of modules comprising:
• a first module, configured to perform a first task, and
• a second module, configured to perform a second task;
• and
• a plurality of sub-cache blocks comprising:
• a first sub-cache block, associated with the first module, comprising:
• a first entry, identified by a QP index number and configured to store a first portion of a QP state of the plurality of QP states, and
• a second sub-cache block, associated with the second module, comprising:
• a second entry, identified by the QP index number and configured to store a second portion of the QP state.
