Abstract
A method, which identifies information of interest within an organization, determines use data that characterizes relationships among information items within the organization, where the information items include user data and collections of information items. The method generates interest data indicating affinities among the information items based on the determined use data. After receiving a query for data regarding the information items, the method responds to the query by providing one or more results based on the generated interest data. More details are provided herein.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method of identifying information of interest within an organization, the method comprising:
- determining use data that characterizes relationships among information items within an organization,
- wherein the information items include user data and collections of information items, and
- wherein the organization includes a structured body of users with associated roles within the organization and who have access to the information items;
- generating interest data indicating affinity among the information items based on the determined use data;
- receiving a query for data regarding the information items;
- and
- responding to the query by providing one or more results based on the generated interest data.
At least one tangible computer-readable storage medium carrying instructions, which when executed by at least one data processor cause the at least one data processor to perform a method for permitting queries with respect to groups of items, the method comprising:
- providing for display a user interface for accepting a query from a user;
- in response to a received query, displaying, for each of multiple groups of items,
- a title of the group and a number of items in the group matching the query;
- receiving a selection of one of the multiple groups of items from the user;
- and
- presenting information to the user in response to the query,
- wherein the presented information is limited to information obtained from the selected group of items.
A system to identify information items of interest within an organization, wherein the organization includes a group of users on a private network and sharing an internet domain, the system comprising:
- means for gathering use data that characterizes relationships among the information items within the organization,
- wherein the information items include user data and collections of information items;
- means for computing interest data indicating affinity among the information items based on the determined use data to generate interest graph data structures,
- wherein each interest graph data structure expresses the affinity between at least one user and one information item, and
- wherein the affinity represents a likelihood that the one information item is of interest to the one user;
- query means for receiving a query for data regarding the information items and responding to the query by providing one or more results based on the computed interest data.
A method for returning relevant search results over data items, users, and/or collections of data items, within a company, enterprise and/or organization, comprising:
- collecting user data including:
- querying, clicking, browsing, viewing, skimming, commenting, liking, sharing, downloading, collecting, and/or curating data items, and collections of data items, within the company and/or organization or shared between companies and/or organizations;
- analyzing the user data to create an interest graph representing an affinity between users, groups of users, queries, data items, and collections of data items;
- and,
- reordering results returned from information retrieval using two or more properties,
- wherein the properties include:
- a text matching score, a data item's overall popularity, author authority, user-item affinity, user-user affinity, and user-collection affinity.
