Abstract
Sensor information is received that indicates insertion of an insertion mechanism into a mechanical body. A virtual representation of the spinal region is generated. The insertion mechanism is represented graphically, as part of the virtual representation, as the insertion mechanism is inserted into the mechanical body
Claims26
A system comprising:
- a mechanical body comprising a spinal element, and a synthetic tissue layer;
- one or more sensors that are provided with or coupled to the mechanical body;
- one or more processors that communicate with the one or more sensors to detect insertion of an insertion device into the mechanical body, wherein the one or more processors operate to:
- provide a virtual representation of a spinal region that corresponds to the mechanical body, the virtual representation representing the insertion device being inserted into the mechanical body based on a movement and/or position of the insertion mechanism in relation to the spinal element and the synthetic tissue layer of the mechanical body.

A computer-implemented method receiving sensor information that indicates insertion of an insertion mechanism into a mechanical body;
- generating a virtual representation of a spinal region;
- and
- representing graphically, as part of the virtual representation, the insertion mechanism being inserted into the mechanical body.
A mechanical body comprising:
- a spinal element and one or more synthetic tissue layers;
- a plurality of sensors structured to detect insertion of an insertion mechanism;
- and
- a communication link to communicate an output of the plurality of sensors to a computing system in real-time.
