Implantable Medical Lead

An implantable lead, comprising:

• a longitudinally extended body having a proximal end and a distal end;
• a conductor extending from the proximal end to the distal end;
• a unitary connector pin arranged on the proximal end, the unitary connector pin having a socket end, a conductor end, and a necked-down portion arranged therebetween, the conductor end having a crimp cavity with an inner surface wherein a proximal end of the conductor is positioned in the crimp cavity;
• and
• a pin sleeve over which the proximal end of the conductor is sleeved and by which the proximal end of the conductor is crimped against the inner surface when positioned in the crimp cavity.

A proximal end of an implantable lead, wherein the lead includes a conductor, the proximal end comprises:

• a unitary ring connector having a band portion, a notch portion, and a crimp portion, the crimp portion having a crimp cavity with an inner surface wherein a proximal end of the conductor is positioned in the crimp cavity;
• and
• a ring sleeve positioned in the crimp cavity, wherein
• the proximal end of the conductor sleeves over an outer surface of the ring sleeve and a crimp connection is provided to the proximal end of the conductor against the inner surface by the ring sleeve.

An implantable lead, comprising:

• a longitudinally extended body having a proximal end and a distal end and having a conductor extending from the proximal end to the distal end;
• a unitary ring connector arranged on the proximal end and having a band portion, a notch portion, and a crimp portion, the crimp portion having a crimp cavity with an inner surface, wherein a proximal end of the conductor is positioned within the crimp cavity;
• and
• a ring sleeve positioned in the crimp cavity, wherein
• the proximal end of the conductor sleeves over an outer surface of the ring sleeve and a crimp connection is provided to the proximal end of the conductor against the inner surface by the ring sleeve.

A pair of implantable leads, comprising:

• an active lead having an active mechanism arranged on a distal end;
• and
• a passive lead having a passive mechanism arranged on a distal end,
• wherein:
• each of the active and passive lead comprises:
• a connector insulator with a central bore;
• a connector pin having a conductor end and a socket end and extending through the central bore of the connector insulator;
• and
• a ring connector having a band portion concentrically arranged around and insulated from the conductor end of the connector pin and having a crimp portion;
• and
• the connector insulator, the connector pin, and the ring connector of the active leads are substantially the same as the respective connector insulator, connector pin, and ring connector of the passive lead.

A connector insulator for a proximal end of a lead, comprising:

• a central body;
• a distal extension extending from the central body and having a plurality of circumferentially cascading shoulders on an exterior surface thereof;
• and
• a proximal extension extending from the central body opposite the distal extension,
• wherein:
• the proximal extension and the central body define a first longitudinally extending bore for receiving a necked-down portion of a connector pin, the bore having a first diameter;
• the central body and distal extension define a second longitudinally extending bore for receiving a conductor end of the connector pin, the second bore having a diameter larger than the first bore;
• and
• a transition between the central body and the proximal extension defines a proximal shoulder on the exterior surface opposite the plurality of cascading shoulders.
