Claims16
A pocket diabetic kit comprising:
- one blood glucose meter;
- one Lancet pen and a plurality of lancets;
- one test strip bottle with a plurality of test strips;
- at least one medication pre-filled syringe;
- at least one hard plunger enclosed in a sterile bag for pushing insulin from the insulin pre-filled syringe;
- one syringe clipper for cutting a medication pre-filled regular length syringe;
- and
- one primary purse for housing the blood glucose meter, Lancet pen and lancets, test strip bottle and test strips, medication syringe, plunger, and syringe clipper, the primary purse has a soft Velcro interior surface, a swivel hook and a net;
- wherein the medication pre-filled syringe is modified from the medication pre-filled regular length syringe by cutting the medication pre-filled regular length syringe using the syringe clipper.
A method of preparing a modified medication pre-filled syringe and administering medication from the modified syringe, the method comprises:
- using an empty regular length syringe with needle to withdraw a dose of medication out of a medication vial or getting a commercially available insulin pre-filled syringe;
- using a syringe clipper to cut the medication pre-filled regular length syringe at a location depending on the size of the syringe and the dose quantity, the resultant insulin pre-filled syringe has the soft plunger remained but may or may not have a part of hard plunger remained;
- enclosing the resultant medication pre-filled syringe needle with a needle cap and placing the insulin pre-filled syringe inside the pocket diabetic kit;
