Abstract
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a ventilation monitoring device comprises at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code. The at least one memory and the computer program code is configured with the at least one processor to cause the ventilation monitoring device to determine whether an intubated subject's tracheal tube is properly placed by receiving an indication of a subject's breath from at least one sensor.
Claims25
A ventilation monitoring device, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured with the at least one processor to cause the ventilation monitoring device to determine whether an intubated subject's tracheal tube is properly placed by receiving an indication of a subject's breath from at least one of a capnography sensor or at least two electrodes configured with the ventilation monitoring device to measure a transthoracic impedance of the subject, and receiving an indication of a positive result of an auscultation within a predetermined time limit.
A method for determining whether a subject's tracheal tube is properly placed, comprising:
- receiving within a ventilation monitoring device an indication of a subject's breath from at least one of a capnography sensor or at least two electrodes configured with the ventilation monitoring device to measure a transthoracic impedance of the subject;
- and
- receiving within the ventilation monitoring device an indication of a positive result of an auscultation,
- wherein receiving the indication of the positive result of the auscultation occurs within a predetermined time limit.
One or more computer readable media storing instructions that are executable by a processing device, and upon such execution cause the processing device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving within a ventilation monitoring device an indication of a subject's breath from at least one of a capnography sensor or at least two electrodes configured with the ventilation monitoring device to measure a transthoracic impedance of the subject;
- and
- receiving within the ventilation monitoring device an indication of a positive result of an auscultation,
- wherein receiving the indication of the positive result of the auscultation occurs within a predetermined time limit.
