Abstract
Intraluminal devices, especially catheters having variable flexibility elements in a midsection of the device. The devices offer improved deliverability in an intraluminal environment, especially when used in imaging and treatment catheters.

An imaging catheter comprising a proximal segment, a distal segment and a midsection there between, the proximal segment comprising a hypotube, the distal segment comprising an imaging element, and the midsection comprising a variable stiffness element.
