Abstract
Compounds of formula I wherein X, Z, R1-R4, and m are as defined in the claims, exhibit alpha2C antagonistic activity, and are thus useful as alpha2C antagonists. Methods for the treatment of diseases and conditions of the peripheric system and the central nervous system are also disclosed.

A compound of formula I,
- wherein
- X is C(R5)(R6) or C(R7)(R8);
- z is —[C(R4)2]n;
- R1 is a halogen;
- R2 is H;
- R3 is H;
- R4 is H;
- R5 is H;
- R6 is phenyl substituted with 1 substituent R9;
- R7 is (C1-C6)alkyl;
- R8 is hydroxy(C1-C6)alkyl, hydroxy(C1-C6)alkoxy or (C1-C6)alkoxy-(C1-C6)alkoxy;
- R9 is, independently at each occurrence, hydroxy, (C1-C6)alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy(C1-C6)alkyl, or hydroxy(C1-C6)alkoxy;
- m is 0 or 1;
- and
- n is 1;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
