Abstract
The present invention provides methods for identifying compounds that act as miR-34a modulators. The present invention also provides miR-34a modulators and compositions containing the modulators. The present invention further provides methods for treating diseases by administration of miR-34a modulators.

A method of inhibiting cell proliferation comprising contacting a cell with an effective amount of:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, CH2CH3, F, Cl, Br, NO2, OH, COOH, NH2, CF3, and CN.
A composition comprising:
- a compound of:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, CH2CH3, F, Cl, Br, NO2, OH, COOH, NH2, CF3, and CN;
- and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
