Providing data service options in push-to-talk using voice recognition

A mobile device for providing a voice search query comprising:

• a microphone to receive voice data;
• a display screen to provide visual information;
• a memory for storing data;
• and
• a processor, coupled to the microphone, the display and the memory, the processor being configured to:
• receive a signal to initiate a spoken search request;
• communicate a prompt to receive the spoken search request;
• record voice data comprising the spoken search request;
• transmit the voice data from the mobile device to a server, wherein the server processes the voice data to determine a response to the spoken search request;
• receive the response to the spoken search request from the server;
• and
• present the response to the spoken search request on the display screen.

A mobile device comprising:

• a microphone to receive voice data;
• a GPS receiver to obtain location data for the mobile device;
• a speaker to provide audible information;
• a display screen to provide visual information;
• a memory for storing data;
• and
• a processor, coupled to the microphone, the GPS receiver, the speaker, the display screen and the memory, the processor being configured to:
• receive a signal to initiate a spoken search request;
• communicate a prompt to receive the spoken search request;
• record voice data comprising the spoken search request;
• obtain current location coordinates of the mobile device;
• transmit the voice data and the current location coordinates from the mobile device to a server, wherein the server transforms the voice data to text data and processes both the text data and the current location coordinates of the mobile device to determine a response to the spoken search request;
• receive the response to the spoken search request from the server;
• and
• present the response to the spoken search request by displaying search results on the display screen and by playing a verbal response through the speaker.
